Right, I was playing around zomboid raiding houses and stealing stuff when all of a sudden there's a gunshot, a random gunshot. I did have a pistol on me but it was away in my bag and couldn't have fired. All of the zombies were drawn to it as a real shot, too. No npc for now, playing solo mean no support, its hard, depends on ur sandbox options, better find friend its easier and interesting to play. No NPC's , but yes its definitely worth buying for solo play.

Depending on your settings, random noises and even a helicopter will cause zombies to move across the map in large numbers. Listen for audio clues and get out of sight when they happen. The default setting for the helicopter is to come once and then never come back, but there still may be random gunshots, dogs, and screams.

On a random day in your world, the helicopter will appear and make a lot of noise as it travels overhead. Has anyone else experienced ...That way you'll know what direction the sounds are coming from and the approximate location. Like if a gunshot goes off, you'll be given an indication if it was nearby or somewhere offscreen and if zeds are pounding on your door or the door of the neighboring house. Currently, the gunshots are just part of the metagame to move zeds around to prevent you from getting too cozy in one place.
